It’s been a long journey, but now we’re almost there!

It’s been a lot harder to keep up with blogging this month than I thought it would be.  Working in Montpellier for five weeks, about 70-80 hours a week, and with only three days off doesn’t sound very French!  I love it here though, and I’m really happy to have the experience.  All of the people I work with are fantastic, and the students are great as well.  I didn’t know I’d be the only anglophone working here, but that’s also been good for me.

François and the kids are in Béziers, and have been there for a few weeks.  I’ll join them once and for all on August 1, but in the meantime our container has arrived in Marseilles!  It should be in Béziers on Thursday, so now we’re just looking for some people to help us unload it.  It’s a bit of a challenge, and since I’m not there to help it makes it a little difficult for François, but somehow it will all come together 🙂

That’s it for the little update, back to work!  After August 1, I’ll post more frequently and keep everyone up to date on our new life in Béziers.  I’m so excited to have our things and start unpacking boxes.  It’s been a long road, but now we’re almost there!

  1. All sounds good! Welcome to France – hopefully you will enjoy your August! I look forward to reading more about how you are all adjusting. I know for us, it’s been almost 2 years and I’m just beginning to feel more settled in. At least the weather is finally cooperating!

    1. Hi! I’ve been looking forward to having a chance to breathe and discover your site and your French/American life in more depth 🙂 We’re not even beginning to feel settled just yet, but like you, I know that these things take time. Before we know it, it will be “la rentrée”, right? Just as long as we can have our apartment put together the way we like it by then, we’ll be doing ok. Talk to you soon! – Jennifer

    1. Hi there! How is your summer going? Mine’s been very busy, but now I’m getting ready to get down to business, and get that apartment fixed up just the way we like it. I haven’t even had a chance in the last month to read my favorite blogs (like yours), but now that I’m in Béziers with my family things will beging to settle down a bit. I hope you’re not too hot down in Texas, hang in there! – Jennifer

  2. Good to hear all is going well. I’ve been travelling on the east coast of Canada for 4 weeks. Looking forward to reading more about your new adventure! Bon courage!

    1. Good to hear from you 🙂 I can’t wait till I have a chance to sit down and devote myself to a few hours of browsing around on my favorite blogs just to get a glimpse of what everyone has been up to this summer. 4 weeks on the east coast of Canada, wow! What a trip! I’m now in Béziers with my family, and the adventure has begun! Hopefully I will have more of an opportunity to blog and work on my French and English lessons on SKYPE. All of that has been suffering a bit since the beginning of July, but I’m ready to jump back in. Keep enjoying your beautiful summer 🙂

      1. Thanks Jennifer! Leon is really getting an appreciation of just how widely spoken French is in Canada, not just in Quebec.
